So. This happened.

Vul: E-W
Dealer: North
Our Hero : West

Picks up

S :
H : Q J 10 8 7 6 3
D : 8 7 4 2
C : 7 5

The bidding goes

 N E S W
1S 5C 6S

Yes, by the time I get a chance to bid, I'm having to bid a slam. I pass

             -
7S - - -

What the hell happened here?

7 spades is cold on any lead. Flat board? No! Someone had doubled the 7S contract. It's not often you concede a grand slam, bid and made, for a share of top.

One of those wonderful hands. Oh yes. But it doesn't surprise me about not being flat.

An daring and misadventurous South may decide to opt for 7NT on the not too implausible hope that West has no clubs to lead.

Also, if I'd been N/S and they'd doubled me in 7S, I'd have redoubled. That is what it is for. Getting tops. :)

But... who would double?

East. Because it's impossible that one of North and South could be out of clubs on this sequence.
