The Daily Express today leads with

"Enough is Enough, Mr Blair - Why the Daily Express Is Taking The Historic Decision To Back The Conservatives"

What on earth? "Is taking"? The Daily Express? Staunch left-wing socialist rag that it is, the abandonment of the Labour government is a shocking betrayal of its roots in the working class.

Yesterday, The Sun ran with 97% of Sun Readers Oppose New EU Constitution... had the other 3% bought the wrong newspaper? Maybe copies of Le Monde ran out...

It is often stated that a country gets the politicians (anodyne, limited and scared of the media) and the media it deserves. I can't quite imagine what crime we've committed to deserve the Express and the Sun.

And the Mirror.
And the Mail.
And especially the Daily Star (News is only printed in fits).

The Daily Star is not a newspaper, Robert. It's pornography for the really cheap.

...or if you're really really cheap, it's laid on for free by the University of Leicester in its Senior Common Room.
And I used to think academics spent their lunchtimes reading academic journals. Tch.

It is (slightly) interesting to note that the Graduate Society is the only Common of Peterhouse which does not take the Sun.

At least the broadsheets have a classier type of bias.

And...uh...proper journalism too, I suppose.
