'Well I think I've made good progress, anyway.'

'Excellent progress!'

'Excellent progress, yes! I've introduced the people to Parliamentary democracy, religious toleration, and the concept of equal rights!'

'All in half an hour!'

The really annoying thing is that Songbird actually sorta agrees with Slides.

It's just that she believes in changing things from the inside.

Not that there is time...

Not that the majority of the Nation will listen...

and all that stuff.

Now, two years ago would have been perfect. :)

No, the problem is that the Majority of the nation has and will listen. Show me a sept where the tribes don't work together? Everyone always comes together (x-men style) for the big fights and bonds with each other. Almost all packs are multi-tribe and kinfolk are respected by everyone!

The system that people are trying to fight against exists pretty much purely as Dark Water.

The bitching and infighting is created purely by the LARP dynamic that characters can only act once or twice a month and the email lists just leave them with bitching in between.

No-one is going to be changing the way 'things are done' before the end of the world...

Which is what I meant. :)

Cat's would be (IIRC) 2 perm renown off Elder if not for that...

Sorry!

It wasn't even Cat's' fault. Songbird had never been one of her cubs.

Cass was, in fairness...

*wonders whether there's any precedent for punishment rites being rescinded*

*doubts it*

Ah well...should hopefully be challenging for Athro before long. Elder isn't looking likely before the end of the world, but hey ho...

I don't see why they can't be reversed, the renown returned, an apology granted. Anyone can make a mistake. Obviously you can't bring back the dead... but Righting a Wrong is a noble and interesting storyline.

Red Talon judging that a Fury Lupus should have taught her cubs that lesbian relationships between garou were bad and Litany breaking, and should thus be Satire Rited...

...this (regardless of the uniqueness of a lupus considering homosexuality to be mating) would require a red talon to admit having been wrong...

But they are bad and litany breaking. The first tenet isn't just about Metis, it existed before Garou even knew that Metis could occur.

But if it isn't about litany-breaking, why is never-acted-on garou luuuurve held high in garou tragic/honour tales, while acting on it is naughty and bad (ie if it's the emotional relationship as well as the physical act)

Genuinely curious as to your argument on that, I have no real expectation of getting anything back :)

Acting on it in any way is the problem.

There are three levels, Love, naughty Touching and Breeding.

- Being in Love is not a problem.

- Touching another Garou in a sexual manner is a problem.

- Producing offspring is a problem.

So lesbian sex between Garou fails on the second of these.

The reason for this tenet of the Litany is that spiritually Garou are all siblings, all direct children of the Mother Gaia, Children of Gaia. So in the same way that human society has taboos about sibling sex, Garou have taboos against Garou with garou sex. A secondary level is that garou are all soldiers, and if soldiers are in love with each other, you can get breaking the line of command. Twice-Dead isn't going to send Lara in with the ground troops, nor would a Garou leader with his or her lover if they were Garou (yes, sometimes they might)

Source?

I've got three tribes that disagree with you.(Black Furies, BoneGnawers and Children of Gaia)

Litany of the Tribes 1, by the way (just happens to be on my workdesk)

*grins*

Yeah, that was my thought canonically.

Logically (hoho), the fact that 'taking a mate and not breeding' is considered dishonourable would suggest that there is a distinction in garou thinking between mating and sprogging...ie that a mate with whom you do not or cannot have children is still a mate, and thus the pairing is still considered mating.
