September the 11th.
An anniversary.
It is two years since I sat watching the tiny, malfunctioning television at work, monitoring our news feed. Two years since nearly three thousand people (including some who worked for Thomson Corp.) were killed.
It is thirty years since the bloody coup in Chile, when the democratically elected Salvador Allende was shot and Augustus Pinochet took power. The Pinochet regime is officially documented as having killed or disappeared 3,197 people.

i'm not one for number games.
but it sickens me.
if we had one minute's silence for every life lost- how long wold it take?
and the arms dealers flood to the docklands and buy the latest, fastest, best...
but then, as we all know from congo- you dont need more than a big knife.

No amount of time will erase the memory of that day, nor let her forget that only oversleeping meant that she was in a Bagel bar and not at the foot of the towers. Only a decision to see New York by night from the WTC and by day from the Empire State building meant that she wasn't at the top of one of the towers.
I dread to think what my father is like at the moment (he bottles things up even more than I do).
If I could hurt the bastards that did this to my loved ones in some way I would, but I can't. That is it's legacy, helpless anger and impotent rage.
My thoughts go out to everyone affected by this day, especially those that lost loved ones or friends.
