Can Garou get tattoos?

More...can Garou _keep_ tattoos after they've got them?

Something trapped under the skin (ink/ask etc) - I'd say yes.

You just have to work quickly because garou heal so fast (eg a knife cut/claw mark will heal in a turn, so you have to slap ash/dirt into it quickly before it heals over)

Obviously, not an issue with a tattoo gun, which inserts the ink pretty much immediately.

Hmm...

Flipside/corollary to this logic - Garou scars from ordinary fights (lethal wounds anyway, agg wounds would have time to be cleaned up) would actually tend to look more obvious that human ones - scar tissue wouldn't be as bad, because there's none of this repetitive scabbing, but any dirt in the wounds would be trapped be the rapid healing process.

Interesting thought. Question though - is the Garou healing ability _just_ faster, or is it faster and better? If the latter, then there may well be less scarring as the skin heals better. The "stuff getting trapped" point is well made though.

Guess it's better, in that they /can/ heal agg...which humans can't...

...maybe allowing healing to act in such a way that stuff remains under the skin rather than being cast out during the healing process is a semi-conscious decision?

Ummm...humans can heal Agg, or at least they're supposed to be able to, unless it's something like loss of a limb.

The only difference between Agg and Lethal (according to canon, anyway) is the ease at which it heals supernaturally.

It was limbs I was thinking of, actually...and things like severe skin damage/burns - which if the system is common sense humans *can't* regenerate without serious medical intervention (eg grafts, microsurgery....)

Hoho. That would involve the system being common sense, right?

...Actually *thinks* - the above would only count as lethal unless it was caused supernaturally (agg damage is generally caused by weird shit/acts on a supernartural vulnerability, eg fire for vampires, silver for werewolves)

Lethal and agg /are/ 'equally' nasty for humans. But in a *lethally nasty* kinda equal way ;)

I think I need to learn healing things for non-garou... ;)

The various canonical rules for ghouls are a nice starting point, since they highlight healing up from mortals (as opposed to down from vamps, which is how they're bundled in MET)

That said, I don't know any codefied set of rules specifically for bog-standard mortal healing. It never came up in Vamp or Garou (the first two WoD games), since they've got their own radically different healing systems, and I think the need for them was just overlooked in the later books, and replaced with healing rotes/Heather Balm, etc.

Healing never comes up that much in Hunter, since if you get much of a knocking, you'll either be zapped by a nearby Redeemer or you'll die. It should be noted, as befitting the no-mundane-difference-between-Agg-and-Lethal, that the core Hunter rules make no mention of Aggravated damage.

Maybe if the ink was dedicated when the tattoo was done?

Garou is better healing, but still only healing: And garou do scar (Which is essentially what a tattoo is, isn't it? Pigmented scarring). I'sd say yes, not least of which is due to tattoo fetishes that are in some ofthe books. I think the needles would have to scar somewhow (Ironically garou may have to be tattooed in breedform or with Silver: DOn't forget in breed form you don't regen, but heal naturally: Given the "Healing" from a tatto is a matetr of secodns, but the manner of healing creates the tattoo...

Sure, why not? According to canon, Fianna and Glass Walkers have beern doing it for years. They can dye their hair, shave patches, tattoo themselves, there's no real reason why not.

Just because Garou heal pretty well doesn't mean that they can't have tattoos. All tattoos are is ink under the skin and unless Garou have something that would eject or expell something foreign from the skin, I'd say it's all good.

I thought regeneration wasn't as potent in Homid form?
