Bridge too far? Not likely..
A and I played in a bridge tournament last night. Basically, we'd qualified for this by finishing in the top three pairs at our club on a particular night (of about 24 people). The tournament had 26 pairs in it taken from all around the Reading area (an area covered by the Chiltern Leagues).
Anyway, the results are out and A and I were equal 13th. This is a pretty creditable performance, we were the top of the three pairs from our club, and to be honest I'm quite chuffed. As this was our first foray into the world of competitive bridge outside our club, it's heartening. I thought we'd done OK, to recover from an awful start to the evening (I was very nervous, A was tired and not really in tune)
[insert happy hmming noises]
Oh, and we were the youngest in the event by quite a distance, probably at least 10 years.
