Naval Gazing
Hmm...
Brief explanation for the Changeling deficient.
My PC is William ap Gwydion. Who just so happens to be Duke of Thorns (and the only PC Duke in the country). He started life as an honest, courageous and slightly dimwitted fellow. As he's developed, he's become less dimwitted and stuff has happened to him and so forth.
Recent events have left him in a bit of state. He's lost the woman he loved, and it was as a result of his inaction and indecisiveness - largely his fault. In addition, he broke an Oath (insert whinge here - I wonder if he did). He's largely a wreck at the moment.
Many of the other PC's are ideologically opposed to him. Also, they have this occasional habit of destroying the freehold.
Right. I'm wending towards the point here.
Am I, or more specifically, is my character, damaging the game?
It seems to me that people have taken the opportunity to kick him while he's down. Now, I must confess that I don't understand why he's _so_ unpopular, being genuinely one of the good guys. But at the moment, I don't know that I could walk into a game and play him at the moment. Which is worrying.
So...should I keep playing the character?
Oh, and Re the subject of this post: "Look! A ship!"

Please continue
I'm not directly involved with him IC, I just see the public consequences. People with PCs closer to him might perhaps think differently, but I don't.
Whoa!
I know being at the Top causes all sorts of IC/OOC shite but at least with the IC, it's to be expected. The anti-noble commoners are not going to like WaG by default. The noble-supporters (usually other nobles) either want the position themselves or don't really care who has it either way.
Yes, WaG IS a genuinely nice guy. Some don't like it and wish he would 'get real' (mostly the unseelie but not always) while others don't mind him but don't do anything to stop the others hassling him.
Ultimately, it's your call and this is only one person's opinion. It's lonely at the top & nice guys finish last. It IS the WoD after all...

Re: Whoa!
I suffer major 'leakage' from WaG - i.e. moods that he's in transfer into moods that I am in...always worrying.
It's just...I pretty much monopolized Sunday's game...and I _really_ don't want to spoil things for others..

Re: Whoa!
cant think of much to add to what Isi has said: your playing a seelie noble sidhe, as such your a target for unseelie/quasiseelie, commoners and non sidhe. Your going to get this crap, thats the nature of the beast.
As to the 'leakage', I can understand that to an extent. Take a break for a while and talk it over with your ST
Re: Whoa!
Eh?
No you didn't! Anyway, you're the DUKE ferchrissakes! It's YOUR gaff and YOU are the head honch. Well, WaG is at any rate ;-)
Re: Whoa!
No don't do it

Re: No don't do it
WaG is beset from all sides. Perhaps that feeling is leaking to you too. I think WaG is good for the chronicle. In some ways he's what's keeping the whole thing from collapsing in a nasty heap.

it is lonely at the top... we do need mre pc dukes and duchesses.... hmmmm...
damn it... need a game near me that has that type of position going...

Save our Duke appeal!
As for the wildly seesawing seelie/unseelie balance, I think that is something that will work out when people get over the novelty.

You know...
Either it's a pathetic cry for validation...
...or it's the sign of a really good roleplayer.
I think that giving yourself a reality check once in a while is a good thing, and that RBS is one of life's great unselfish people. So it must be that he's just a good roleplayer.
Don't worry about it, Robert. The chances are that this is just a passing phase. Relax, and enjoy being a lightning conductor for as long as it lasts.
