The only name that rings a faint bell is the last one. I think it's a musician or singer/songwriter but I can't put my finger on it.
Now I'm going to use Google... ;o)

Ray Tomlinson invented email, or rather sent the first one, and he's responsible for the @ in email addresses...

Yep
Kleinrock wrote the paper that came up with packet-switching.
Licklider and Clarke wrote a paper talking about a Galactic network of social interactions in 1962
Paul Baran expanded on Kleinrock and came up with the idea of a distributed network (as opposed to a decentralized one)
Lawrence Roberts was an early head of ARPA who came up with the idea of ARPANet
Charley Kline was Kleinrocks assistant, and it's he who sent the first packets across a network.
And, as you say, Ray Tomlinson sent the first email...
Berners-Lee, eat your heart out!

Robert, you are a sad strange little man and you have my pity.
Were you crashing at my place tonight, I'd put you out of your misery.... Why, which Friday is it? Solent Vamp Friday :)
